My dad's side of the extended family goes camping every summer as our summer family get together. A benefit of this, is that I learn how to make a lot of yummy campfire treats over the years shared by aunts, uncles and cousins.
I learn very well by watching others. So, by watching my mom prepare for many camping trips our family has taken over the years, I think I was pretty well prepared when I went camping a couple weeks ago. And it was great to get a chance to share some of the recipies I've picked up along the way too.
Here's a couple of the recipies I took with me to share at Agile Summer Camp:
Fudge Striped S'mores
S'mores are usually made with graham crackers, pieces of chocolate bars, and marshmallows toasted over the fire. This recipie is a slightly more convenient variation of that.
Necessities:
- 1 package of fudge striped cookies.
- 1 package of marshmallows.
- Get out 2 cookies per every 1 marshmallow you are going to toast.
- Toast marshmallow(s) over the fire to your liking (lightly toasted golden brown, to dark toasted.)
- Place 1 toasted marshmallow between 2 cookies.
- Yumm.
Campfire Burritos
Necessities:
- Soft-shelled tortillas. 6 - 8 inch work well. I prefer flour over corn tortillas.
- Peanut Butter.
- Semi-sweet chocolate chips.
- Mini-marshmallows.
- Aluminum foil.
- Spread 1-2 Tbsp. peanut butter onto each tortilla.
- Sprinkle with chocolate chips and mini marshmallows.
- Roll or fold into a tube similar to a burrito.
- Wrap in aluminum foil.
- Cook over a campfire until marshmallows and chocolate chips are melted.
- Yumm.
